STYLE ME FOR LESS...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Hi, welcome to my 3rd installment of "Style Me For Less".  I never know when an outfit inspiration will come but as soon as I saw this one, I knew that I could find similar pieces in my closet.   The only thing with this installment is that I don't have the prices of the items in the photo that I found in one of my old Lucky magazines.  The entire point of this feature on my blog, was to compare prices but lets just imagine that her outfit is much more expensive than mine.  I went with the cozy look even though y'all know I'm sexy am I know it!!!

Of course, I didn't have the exact pieces in my closet but with my self imposed shopping ban, I was (happily) forced to wear what I already own.  To be honest with you dear friends, I have not even made a dent in my closets.  Without having shopped for clothing other than vintage for over a month, I still have tons of outfits and items that I have not yet worn.  I have too much and it's overwhelming at times.  I did however, compile two bags of clothing that are going to be swapped, given away or donated.  One bag went to my sister.   My process is slow because I am wearing things that I bought and deciding after having worn them, if they are keepers or not.  I am giving myself until Spring to have an organized closet full of items that I really like, ones I will want to wear and remix.  It is not easy to not shop but instead of drowning in a sea of clothing, I am swimming in what I already own.  Hey, I like that!!! Have a great day and don't forget to give thanks!!! dawn xo

I am thankful for so many things, God in my life, a great husband, family and friends(including bloggie friends) the warmest, coziest bed, hot water for a shower, a good job that includes church on Sundays, good health, a car that runs good and is paid for, healthy pets, a place to go on Thanksgiving, a clear mind, cold weather, peaceful mornings with coffee and just a good feeling of well being knowing that I am good standing with God.  Amen to that!  Dawn xo

BRING YOUR PUDDING....

Hi friends and newer friends, I am making my way to your blogs.   Looking forward to reading about your life and fashion.  I wore this outfit to 2 of my favorite thrifts.   I planned on hitting up 3 places because they are all within a few miles of each other along the same road but I spent too much time in the 2nd place so I came home to change into my work uniform.  Yeah, we now have uniforms.  A pop collar, sunflower yellow, short sleeved shirt and Dickie's.   I don't own Dickie's so I just wear Khaki's.  I used to get dressed in the morning for my blog and then wear the same outfit to work but they decided to make us all look alike.  Not a flattering look at all.

I know this is a little dressy for thrifting but I find that if you dress up and like what you're wearing while thrifting you will be less likely to buy things that you don't need.  Satisfaction with your outfit = less items purchased especially due to them being cheap.  Besides, I personally meet random people in the thrift store and end up talking to them while shopping so how can I expect to hand out my Suitcase Vignettes card while telling them I'm a fashion blogger if I look crappy?  Now, I don't always dress for thrift shopping because that's too much pressure but I sometimes grant myself the opportunity to hand out a card.  I didn't  hand one out yesterday but I had them in my wallet just in case.  See how I wore this cardi 2 years ago here

Georgia is obsessed with her ball.  I was throwing it in between shots just to get her off the deck but man, she fetches fast.

My current job as an Activities Associate in an assisted living home is due to chatting with my friend Carolyn at the thrift.  She is a gorgeous blond that I happen to meet one day in Goodwill.  We would run into each other occasionally and exchanged numbers one time.  A year later, after having gotten to know each other, she told me about a job available at her work.  I immediately left the thrift store and went home to call the number she had given me for an interview.  I was hired a week later.  So, you never know what opportunities can come along when you least expect it.   Thank you Carolyn if you are reading this...you better be reading my blog.  HA!

Monday night I was putting Chuckles, (nickname) one of the clients at work, on the elevator to take him to bingo and I said to him, "bring your foot in" (his foot was hanging out of the elevator) he said, "what"?   I said, "bring your foot in",  he said, " I didn't have any pudding".  I busted out laughing.   I guess "bring your foot in" sounds like " bring your pudding"????  Found this book at the thrift store.  I think target sells it.  I am hoping to find some good recipes to share.  I think I am becoming a cowgirl in my mind, I need an old pickup to go junkin.  That would be cool.

DAWN OF THE DEAD....happy haunting

Hi you guys, I have been playing around with picture monkey photo editor thanks to Curtise of The Secondhand Years blog.  Thanks girl!   They have the best Halloween editor I have ever seen.   Do you like me as a zombie...I do.

I went out to my old haunt, the abandoned building not too far from home.  I took the dogs along just in case anything creepy happened.  The building is abandoned where I am standing but there is another part of it that is still used.  Due to the weather, nobody was there today which made me creeped out.

I wore this thrifted Donna Morgan vintage number that I have worn many times before on Halloween but mostly for my parties at home.  Today it worked perfectly for this shoot.

Have no fear, I am a good little witch when I want to be.

I added the owl because there is one in my yard that hoots so beautifully.  I lie there in bed and smile when he does his mating call.  Such a pleasing sound.   I woke Rob up at 3 in the morning to ask him if could hear the owl...my owl.  He didn't mind, he said yes and went back to sleep.

Before Picture Monkey Halloween free photo editor....

It's so much better with creepy little edits...have a great Halloween.  Have fun with your little ones.  dawn xo

STYLE ME FOR LESS...

Ahhh, the peplum top from September's Issue of Style Mag Wear it now, Wear it later.   I don't have one.  I am going to add one to my Fall wardrobe without a doubt.  But more importantly, the chevron printed pants.  I tore this page out and ran to my closet remembering that I had something that would keep me from scouring the thrift stores or worse...the Mall.  I don't really shop the mall, I mostly go to Macy's, Tj maxx or Marshall's.  I found these leggings in May at Macy's.  I was dreaming of Fall in May.  I always do because it is the month in which I was born and it is also when the heat begins to suffocate me.

Thank you Kathy Tassles for leaving this magazine at my home. A pretty good outfit was born of this page.  What I love, the difference in price.

After having added up the prices of both, here's what I came up with.

HUGE DIFFERENCE!  Their cost: over $1500.00 dollars.  What?  My Cost:  less than $60.00 bucks.

This may be a new blog feature.  I know I begin a lot of new features and don't follow thru with them but this may stick.  Have a great day.  Yes, yes, I am going to post myself wearing this...you bet I am!  Dawn xo

Bar III leggings/macy's $34.00
Shoes/payless thrifted less than $5.00
Jacket thrifted/$3.99
Assymetrical zipper top/less than $10.00 either tj or marshall's
Ruth Saltz Vintage Purse with lion's head pull for opening/thrifted less than $5.00
