INSPIRATION MONDAY...depleated

Lauren Conrad...the inspiration

Hi darling readers, how was your weekend?  I worked both days but it was easy and church with the seniors was good.  We had communion which makes my spirit feel renewed and that I am in right standing with God.  Things are good and Fall is in full effect with the cold chill, warm sun and leaves that are bursting with color in our yard.  The view from my dining room is beautiful.  Today is Inspiration Monday at Two Birds blog and I am happy for this.  Megan and Nora picked a comfy, easy inspiration this week which is what I am all about most of the time.  Lauren Conrad's clothing is gorgeous, in my opinion, and very affordable at Kohl's.

I found this pleated dress at Goodwill by H&M.  It was a maxi dress or shorter but someone had cut off the end to make it shorter and almost ruined it. (depleated) I bought it and had my tailor sew an even seam but he had to cut off more of the jagged edge therefore making it shorter so I wear it as a tunic.  It would have been great as a longer dress but for $3.99 who's complaining, not me.  I have worn this before on this blog but I am still holding out for Spring clothing and remixing what I have.  It's not easy but I'm doing it.  I am allowing myself to buy housewares but I can't tell you how many clothing items went back on the rack.  I have one rule with clothing purchases:  if it's not vintage, I can't have it.  I have not found one vintage piece worth buying.

This super comfy, super soft hat was handmade for me by my wonderful friend and follower of this blog, Bev.  Bev and I work together and I feel like I hit the jackpot when it comes to work buddies.  We just click and have way too much fun.  She is the most talented artist/nurse that I have ever met.  I actually got to watch her hand loom this hat when she brought it to work.  I love it and cherish it.  Thank you Bev.  Have a great day!  I am linking this to Thrifted Shift as she is hosting Style Imitating Art this week which is a fabulous link up in which I love participating.  Thanks for hosting ladies.  dawn xo

I really like the rich green color and movement of the pleated top. It's good that you could rescue it and give it a new life. Looks lovely with the brown, particularly with the stunning fall backdrop. :)

I would have loved to see that green dress as a maxi, I bet it looked stunning. Oh well, at least you salvaged it as a tunic, and it's gorgeous. You do this autumnal cosy look so well, Dawn, I need to take some lessons from you. I always feel like a sausage in chunky knitwear, how come you look so cute and sexy? Fabulous tan boots, something else I need! Great hat, clever Bev! xxxx

Aw, handmade items are the best since there's something sentimental behind it. That first picture of you is really cute!

Well just look at you! Green is your color for sure. Nice to know all is going well. I have a buying embargo going on here myself. Partially economic and mostly lack of a ride. I'm working on a ride to GW on Saturday. We'll see how that works. When I do get somebody to take me I always feel so rushed that it turns out not to be fun! Oh for the days of independence. Soon, soon.........
Hope you enjoy these last few fall days before winter sets in!!!
