THURSDAY'S THRIFT...curbside and a link up

Hi darling readers, today is Thursday's Thrift at Suitcase Vignettes and I am showcasing my  curbside (trash picked) shelf and thrifted items.  I found this shelf about 2 weeks ago and had to have it.  I hopped right out of my car and snatched it up.  The owner was tinkering around in his garage but I did not care one bit.  It's hand made and has a perfect patina.  We had our kitchen gutted in March and I had been wanting to add some personality to it ever since.  I just didn't know what I wanted until...BAM, there she was on the curb, waiting for me like a hitchhiker needing a ride.

What I am most excited about is the fact that everything on this shelf is thrifted.  I had to pack up my entire house in June for the floors to get done after the kitchen was remodeled which was during the time I had my breast reduction...WHAT?  Am I crazy, you bet!  So,  I dug out all of my little goodies that I had not put to use and created this little vignette of kitchen related items over the holiday weekend.  Sorting thru all of my bins was more exciting than I thought, there is some great stuff in there.

I added botanical prints from a thrifted book to the back wall of the shelf to give it some sweetness and then lined up the little thrifted bottles to give the illusion of herbs in old bottles.

Those little glass jars near the white rooster have their original metal lids....99cents each. Bargain, thank you Goodwill!!

I added Leone's Italian Cookbook for a pop of color near the vintage, thrifted scale.

I thought about hanging it but we just had that wall built that now separates the kitchen from the prior breakfast nook that is now a sitting room where I enjoy my morning coffee and prayers.  I try to enjoy my coffee in the morning but with 5 pets that will never go to school, daycare,  on a playdate or college, it can be a little hectic, just a little.  I am thrilled to have met Sandra of Lara's Vintage recently, she is a mom of two  girls who also loves to thrift.  You need to stop in and visit her.  I am linking this to her blog.  Thank you for hosting Sandra.  Thank you to Heather of Heather's Thrifty Closet for helping me find Lara's Vintage.  Thank YOU for dropping in.  Dawn xo

So pretty, Dawn, the shelf was clearly meant to be yours! I actually thought the herbs on the print were really in those bottles... Need to put my glasses on!
You have a fabulous eye for putting objects together in gorgeous harmony. xxxx

Wow Dawn, you really have an eye for creating vignettes. It's such a pleasing balance of unique items. I love how you pasted a cut-out page to the back and lined up the bottles. You ooze creativity! I'm not a big Halloween person but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do this year.

I am so inspired by your vignettes, people tell me I collect knick knacks but I'm going to say vignettes instead (sounds less crazy grandma!) The spice jars are adorable and your marble countertop is fab!
