Hi! Happy Friday! I remember buying this vintage, floral blazer at Goodwill and the person with me, most likely Kathy, told me to put it back because it was ugly. She is the voice of reason as many of my thrifting gals are but I looked past the bright yellow hue, large flower print, over sized, shoulder padded mess and saw Molly Ringwald in "Pretty in Pink". I loved that movie. It made such an impression on me back in the 80's. Molly was a unique teenager from the wrong side of town that I could identify with at the time. Her style was all her own and still influences some of my decisions when shopping, especially thrifting. I have to give credit to my sweet friend Teddi who reminded me of her post back in February about Pretty in Pink...thank you, girl. You and this jacket sparked my inspiration!! |
I think she would have bought these Steve Madden floral oxfords...Macy's last pair/floor sample |

Well, I am glad you didn't listen, because I love it!! It's marvellous and bright and pretty :)) My husband would have told me to put it back as well because it's ugly, but I wouldn't have listened to him ;)) You look super & the shoes are precious. I hope you have a wonderful weekend petal & have some fun :) xox
I love Molly and her style too! Totally wish I was friends with her in Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles. That blazer is fabulous!
Hiya petal...I am grand...although I am melting like an popcicle today ;) Am glad you enjoyed the little glimpse in my wardrobe...there are many dresses in there, some with tags still on them, haha. I just keep buying them, but I'll get around to wearing them sometime :)) I love art..it's my world really (apart from children & husband) I couldn't live without it :)) I am happy to share the art and beauty I see with everyone, I hope it brings them some to :) You have a gorgeous weekend too my petal xo
oh i loved that movie! i think i loved 16 candles more, though (jake ryan!). i love this blazer and you definitely made the right decision keeping it! as for my hair...thanks for your comment! i haven't been doing much different...except (wait for it) putting coconut oil in in every 3rd night. i sleep with it in and then wash it out the next morning. it's also getting pretty long, so it might look fuller because of that. have a great weekend, dawn!
dawn, i like it. you know you're preaching to the choir. you saw my post about this movie back in feb.
you didn't have to edit that in. here's the actual link. i didn't give it the 1st time cause i knew you'd already seen it before.

That blazer is so sunshiny and happy; it's really pretty on you! It takes a perceptive eye to have seen through its apparent "80s ugliness". I didn't watch too many movies back then, but I do recall Peggy Sue Got Married and Dirty Dancing! (and you really need to see The Avengers, or Thor, by the way lol).
Dawn! Thanks for all your lovely comments. To answer your question, I thrift at Goodwill, Salvation Army, there's a lot of christian thrift stores in my area as well. Oh, and buy the pound places too! I guess I can thank my Mom for my good eye, I've been going thrifting with her since I was little. And I LOVEEEEE that blazer, whenever a friend tells me to put it back it's ugly... I always buy it. Hey, to each their own. And the floral mixing and that amazing hat tips it right over the Molly Ringwald edge, I love it!
So cute, and totally Molly!! I love the blazer I don't think it's ugly at all. I'm a fan of bright colors though! Also your hair looks beautiful and I love the hat!!

That J Crew striped top is the shirt of my dreams. I've been looking for that and keep thinking I'll know the one I want when I see it. (To thrift, of course.) My mouth fell open when I saw yours. I'll find one someday...I know I will.
So glad you got the floral jacket. It looks great.
I loved everything Molly too back in the day!!! This outfit is too cute! It looks like something you would wear to pick fresh veggies at a road side stand... I love that your follower Dainty calls you petal!!! Cute!
HaHa Dawn! Do you know about just a month ago I got rid of all of my VHS tapes. It took awhile. I had loads of them. Nothing to play them on now in my house. I was a Molly Ringwald fanatic. Loved her in Pretty in Pink! Blaine! That's not a name! That's a major appliance. HAHAHAHA Gotta love Duckie. You are sporting that floral jacket hun. Not many can do that, so that says a lot. Gosh, growing up I was into the supermodels at the time and Kimora Lee Simmons so I channeled there energy. Also music groups like Expose, The Jets and such.

I'm glad you went with your sense of style, that blazer is fantastic! I love how you paired it with stripes and denim shorts. Those shoes are totally adorable too!
Unmistakable style, classy and sophistication with a cool and youthful touch.
My man sometimes says I look like Molly Ringwald- lol loved that movie! And how fun is that blazer, you really pull it off and the hat is just fab! Off to catch up on your posts I missed :)
These are some great photos Dawn!
I love the floral jacket, from the 1980's I had that jacket, used to wear it with Jeans and a pink sleeveless sweater.Brings back memories
