CHANNELING my inner MOLLY....

Hi!  Happy Friday!  I remember buying this vintage, floral blazer at Goodwill and the person with me, most likely Kathy, told me to put it back because it was ugly.  She is the voice of reason as many of my thrifting gals are but I looked past the bright yellow hue, large flower print, over sized, shoulder padded mess and saw Molly Ringwald in "Pretty in Pink".  I loved that movie.   It made such an impression on me back in the 80's.   Molly was a unique teenager from the wrong side of town that I could identify with at the time.  Her style was all her own and still influences some of my decisions when shopping, especially thrifting.    I have to give credit to my sweet friend Teddi who reminded me of her post back in February about Pretty in Pink...thank you, girl.  You and this jacket sparked my inspiration!!

I think she would have bought these Steve Madden floral oxfords...Macy's last pair/floor sample

I know she and I would have been thrifting besties even if she was just a movie character and had  the coolest vintage loving friend, ever (Iona).  I watched "Pretty in Pink" recently and remembered that I have the VCR tape (yes, I still have a VCR).  I purchased the tape from Goodwill for less than a buck.  Today is a rainy day, could not be a better day to pop that tape in and reminisce with my girl, Molly! Who is your fashion idol?  Who influenced you mostly when you were a teen?
Have a great weekend!

Jean shorts $2.99 goodwill

Well, I am glad you didn't listen, because I love it!! It's marvellous and bright and pretty :)) My husband would have told me to put it back as well because it's ugly, but I wouldn't have listened to him ;)) You look super & the shoes are precious. I hope you have a wonderful weekend petal & have some fun :) xox

oh i loved that movie! i think i loved 16 candles more, though (jake ryan!). i love this blazer and you definitely made the right decision keeping it! as for my hair...thanks for your comment! i haven't been doing much different...except (wait for it) putting coconut oil in in every 3rd night. i sleep with it in and then wash it out the next morning. it's also getting pretty long, so it might look fuller because of that. have a great weekend, dawn!

That blazer is so sunshiny and happy; it's really pretty on you! It takes a perceptive eye to have seen through its apparent "80s ugliness". I didn't watch too many movies back then, but I do recall Peggy Sue Got Married and Dirty Dancing! (and you really need to see The Avengers, or Thor, by the way lol).

Dawn! Thanks for all your lovely comments. To answer your question, I thrift at Goodwill, Salvation Army, there's a lot of christian thrift stores in my area as well. Oh, and buy the pound places too! I guess I can thank my Mom for my good eye, I've been going thrifting with her since I was little. And I LOVEEEEE that blazer, whenever a friend tells me to put it back it's ugly... I always buy it. Hey, to each their own. And the floral mixing and that amazing hat tips it right over the Molly Ringwald edge, I love it!

That J Crew striped top is the shirt of my dreams. I've been looking for that and keep thinking I'll know the one I want when I see it. (To thrift, of course.) My mouth fell open when I saw yours. I'll find one someday...I know I will.
So glad you got the floral jacket. It looks great.

HaHa Dawn! Do you know about just a month ago I got rid of all of my VHS tapes. It took awhile. I had loads of them. Nothing to play them on now in my house. I was a Molly Ringwald fanatic. Loved her in Pretty in Pink! Blaine! That's not a name! That's a major appliance. HAHAHAHA Gotta love Duckie. You are sporting that floral jacket hun. Not many can do that, so that says a lot. Gosh, growing up I was into the supermodels at the time and Kimora Lee Simmons so I channeled there energy. Also music groups like Expose, The Jets and such.

I love the floral jacket, from the 1980's I had that jacket, used to wear it with Jeans and a pink sleeveless sweater.Brings back memories
