MOD/RETRO LIVING ROOM...thursday's thrift

Hi darlings, this is my newly decorated mostly thrifted living room.  Kathy, my close friend and follower of this blog, along with her cousin Diane, came over after we spent the day thrifting last week.  They were dropping in to look at my couch that I offered to Kathy.  We needed Diane to help us make a decision about the couch aanndd then this happened.  Within 2 hours they moved my big floral couch into the garage, brought this piece of a sectional (now my couch) up from the basement and decorated my living room using the pieces that I had been finding at the thrift stores for weeks.  I love it!  Not your taste?  That's ok, it wasn't mine a year ago when we packed up our entire house to renovate the kitchen and then packed up more when the hardwood floors were installed.  My style has really changed, mostly influenced by thrifting for vintage pieces and reading blogs, yes people, thank you!!

It's spacious, comfortable, cat/pet friendly and easy to clean and keep clean.  Def. a plus for me with 5 pets.  Double plus with it being mostly thrifted, gifted or repurposed.

Opposite this room as you can see in the mirror, is my former breakfast nook which has more seating kinda like an extended living room. I may try to blend these rooms a bit more by incorporating a few mid century pieces into it.

Remind me to clean that mirror that I took out of storage.

Mid century leaf dish/thrifted $4.99.  This dish cost me more than the table it's on which was only $3.99 goodwill.  Crazy!

Marshall's lamp $15.00 on clearance and the rest thrifted for under $15.00 dollars.

All thrifted or gifted with the exception of the sectional, rug (ikea) and pillows (Tuesday Morning and Kohl's)  Just realized that I should move that one table over a little and cords...what to do with cords?  I also wanted this wall to have a wall gallery but for now I am leaving it the way it is until I decide what I want to hang.

Chair in mint condition from late 70's early 80's, $20.00 goodwill.  Gold, crushed velvet, can't go wrong with a granny chair that rocks tooTimothy kitty loves this chair and I love him but you know that.  right?

Table $1.50 at goodwill, lamp $5.00, vintage radio $2.99.

Vintage paint by number $4.95...thrifted.

Thrifted candle sticks from Kathy...thank you!!!  She had recently found them and gifted me!!

Credenza $20.00 bucks from goodwill which is a steal.  Go online and try to find one of these cheaper, it's nearly impossible.  Thanks for viewing my new space.  I am adding a couple of cuckoo clocks to the one wall by the door and a mid century shelf that I found recently.  Thank you Kathy and Diane for helping make my house a home again.  xoxoxo  Linking this to Sandra's blog for Thrifty Thursday, here.

I love the room, Dawn, it looks beautiful. All your pieces are great and work so well together. That sideboard is fabulous (is that what you call a credenza? Oh this common language of ours!) Well done to you and your friends for doing such a great makeover using your existing things. xxx

Dawn, you and your friends did a standout job with the living room reorganization. The pieces are each so unique and different, yet they work really well together. I'm not a good thrifter of household items but I'm hoping to improve, especially once we own a home someday. In the meantime, I appreciate the inspiration!

Your living room is absolutely fantastic! It's exactly what I have in my mind for my own one day--almost everything thrifted and NOT looking like a grandma's house haha. I love how you mixed in some modern pieces too. Absolutely perfect!

And I thought you were just the queen of finding great thrifted threads, but now I see you have a knack for finding great furniture pieces too! Love the modern/vintage vibe:)
