LOOKING AHEAD...2013

Hi darling readers, Happy New Year, 2013!!!  I am always hopeful and excited in the the new year.  Aren't we all?  I am not making any promises and have not set any major goals thus far except to exercise as Rob and I are heading back to Hawaii in the Spring. I'm gonna have to wear a bathing suit...ugh!!   We have decided together, to drop 10 pounds each.(see, nothing major)  Not a tough thing to do and I have more than enough time to do it.   I am sticking to my clothing shopping ban from 2012 and I am liking the results.  My closets are not as bulgy and I am still cleaning out.   I got rid of about 20 belts (goodwill) and went thru my costume jewelry to give away as bingo prizes on Christmas Eve bingo with the Seniors.  They all walked away with pins, necklaces, earrings, scarves and purses that I put in a big box for them to grab from.  It was fun and even more fun to see them wearing their winnings at work!!!  One Senior pulled out a purse that I previously loved and said, "that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen", wha?  I let her throw it back in and choose something else.  I saw that same purse hanging from the back of a wheelchair of another person on New Years Eve bingo...I laughed, at least someone liked it.  Oh the things they say and do...very funny.

I am in the sanctuary/woods behind my home.  I can see my house through the woods in the winter with the bare trees.  They just installed this little foot bridge so I decided to take the pups along for a walk and snap a few photos in the freezing cold.

I have worn all of these pieces before but maybe not in this combination, I am forced to create outfits from what I have and it feels good to wear things that I kept pushing to the back of the closet to wear "someday" which was becoming more like "never".  I have learned this, what the heck was I thinking when I bought half that stuff?  If it doesn't fit now, put it back, pronto!!  Man, I have put so much stuff back, it's like I'm pretend shopping or something.  Ridiculous, I tell ya.

Marc Jacobs dress/thrifted, checkered wool shirt/thrifted, boots from Bakers in the mall years ago/striped long sleeve shirt/tj or marshalls.  Have a great start to your new year, I am going to do a post on my newly decorated, mostly thrifted living room, soon.  I am so excited about it and I am really enjoying the space.  dawn xo

Happy New Year petal!! You look super...gorgeous outfit. I don't make resolutions really, just things I'd like to do, but they are not set in stone. The woods is so nice for your photos. I am going to spend more time thrifting this year, I didn't do much last year. A lot was bought new in the store either by me or for me and I didn't really like it, so I shall thrift more and clear some things out too. I find more treasures thrifting, but I'll also be reducing shopping all together too. Make sure I use all things in my closet first :) I hope this year brings you great joy, blessings and adventures doll!! Have fun. Lots of love xox

That is so sweet that you cleaned out your closet and gave it out as prizes to the seniors! They can be such a picky bunch though. Love the plaid! Happy new year!

Hi Dawn, Happy New Year! It looks cold there in your photos, but you look fantastic. Love the hem on the dress.

Happy New Year, Dawn! I love this outfit! But I have fallen in love with gray since marrying the Mister in May. Can it be that we are already working closer and closer to our one year anniversary! Aaack! Where does the time go. I have made a ton of resolutions and am serious about keeping them all! Tee hee! One of mine is also to buy less, purchase very carefully, and use up (and out) what I have!! Thanks for your most recent, very sweet comment!!

Oh, I want this outfit. You should see how hard I'm staring at my computer screen to figure out all of the layers. You look amazing.

And I love the story about the lady throwing back the purse. So funny!

i love the idea of your pre-loved treasures becoming "gifts" for someone else. so sweet! although, i must admit i would have liked to have had first refusal on those belts... ;)

Hawaii! How exciting. The Man and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary this summer and we talked about that as a destination.
Not sure if we can still make it happen this has been a year from hell.
Take care of those seniors and pups!
