THURSDAY'S THRIFT...I got a mullet

Short in the front, long in the back...
That's right, I found this mullet, Aztec print dress from Goodwill last weekend for $6.99.  I may just use it as a bathing suit cover up since the material is so thin and sorta see thru in the back.  Anyway,  I am sorry for not posting as much this week, I am having a summer slump.  Feeling uninspired except for the Olympics which sparked my commitment to exercise as I am sick of having fat arms and being out of shape, especially in the summer when we can't help but reveal more skin or die from the heat.  I choose not to die from the heat...just complain about it.  But for real, I need someone to come over right now and dye my roots.  Any takers?  I thought not but that's ok because I will get to it when I get to it.  My shoes are from Target.  I got them when I went to buy food at the Super Target.  That always happens to me.  Buying food could mean buying shoes too.

I am planning a giveaway next week.  I hope all of you who read this will take part in it.  I will have another giveaway the following week from Shabby Apple.  They will be offering my readers a $50.00 gift certificate so be sure to get in on that as well.

I got frustrated in the middle of the this shoot and took my strapless bra off because it kept showing up in the photos...it was very liberating.  Oh, the liberties of living in the woods.   My white back shines like a reflector...I did not edit this photo.

What things do you do to help yourself out of a slump be it winter or summer?  Last weekend helped bring me around a little when I ran around with Kathy acting crazy.  I need more things to do in the summer but in all honesty, I choose to avoid the heat.  Come Fall, I feel revived as the reprieve from the heat makes my heart sing and dance. When that cool air hits my face, I am happier than a seagull in the Walmart parking lot who  has just found a McDonald's bag full of food.  Also, I found out recently that I am iron deficient which explains a lot of my afternoon naps and exhaustion.  I mean exhaustion...to the max.  I just began taking iron and vitamin d, daily.  I don't go in the sun much so that explains my pasty white skin and vitamin d deficiency.  oh, the fun of aging.    Have a great day!  I should take my own advice and stay inspired!! dawn xo

I think it's a cute dress! I love the colors! I am getting to that summer slump point too and have no idea how to pull myself out, lol.

You had me worried for a moment there, Dawn - thought you'd cut that beautiful hair short at the front... Ha!
I hear you about needing root attention, not coping well with heat, and being pale! But the hair will be sorted, it's rarely that hot here, and I have made my peace with being pale and freckly. And I am not going to risk sunburn in the pursuit of a tan! You look great, the colours on your dress are so pretty, and yay for going bra-less! xxxxx

I love this dress! I must say I was a little worried at the title of this post, I was expecting maybe like a fashion flashback or something (because I actually did have a mullet when I was a child--sad, but true). I am totally with you on the slump thing. I've been feeling uninspired to blog and have been struggling to work out too. Blah. Hopefully we'll get out of our slump soon, and that Fall will be here before we know it!

dawn, i read that title, & i knew you meant a dress or skirt, & not hair like david spade in joe dirt, or billy ray cyrus, cause that might break "my achy breaky heart." ;) i don't like when things are sheer because i haven't been able to find decent slips, grrrrrr! have you? i am the queen of pale, & i will continue to be so, since i can't tan, & i slather the sunscreen. are you going to take iron pills too? or eat more iron rich foods, or iron enriched foods? we can discuss this in an email if you want.

my mother and my brother have the same issue with iron btw and I know it's not great at all, so I hope your vitamins help.
anyway, I like your thrifted dress. the pattern is so cool and I would probably combine the dress with a waist-belt since I love those.

I thought for a moment you got a real mullet, I was thinking...Noooooo! Haha!! The dress looks great on you. And the price was even better :)) I need to exercise again too, not to loose weight, just to get in shape and have some energy, this summer I've been lazy and eating junk food and it's made me feel a bit slumpy, so I must get back into it. I hope you have a great weekend petal :))) x
