TISSUES PLEASE...

Good Morning darling readers, I hope you had a great weekend. I worked Sat., having done yoga with the seniors and Sun., making sure everyone attended Service. I am glad I was busy. It kept my mind off the heartache that has been plaguing me lately.  Remember when I posted that I was doing some very important work?  Well, that job is done and I feel relieved and sad at the same time.  I was taking care of a very sickly dog that was nearly starved to death.  He won my heart in the short 10 days that I cared for him.  I named him Charlie Buck but referred to him as Charlie Buckles or Buck.  He was a handful, worth every second of the entire experience.  I remember walking him and crying because it was freezing cold outside, he pooped in a neighborhood driveway and the ground was wet because it had rained for 2 days.  His poop was too big to pick up with just a single bag so I grabbed a newspaper from another person's lawn and picked up the wet poop as it ran down my arm.  I cried harder, I usually don't cry over poop (yes I do) but I was dishevelled, exhausted, cold, and embarrassed imagining the owner of the driveway laughing at me from their window.  Has this ever happened to anyone?  My dogs just poop in the yard or the woods, very privately.  Mr. Buckles waited for the worst moments and then let it rip, he could not help it and I could not help feeling embarrassed.  Anyway, placement has been found for him and he will continue to get medical attention in which he desperately needs due to heart worm, Lyme's disease, problematic hips and abandonment issues.  I will miss him but his issues unfortunately, are too tough for an amateur like myself to handle.   While he was here, he gained weight, learned to go up  and down steps, learned to walk on a leash, became reconnected with the world, learned to be around other dogs and cats, felt loved and cared for, had a warm bed, and was given a chance to be a happy dog, he is seven years old.  Most importantly, he taught me a lot about myself and made me a better dog owner.  I cried through the weekend and I am crying now but I prayed that someone else will see the potential in him and fall in love with him when he is adoptable.  God keeps his promises and that gives me peace about where Charlie is going and how he will live out his life while being given a chance to start a new life full of love, warmth and plenty of treats.  Thank you for dropping in, I appreciate it.  Have a great day, say a prayer for Charlie Buck.  Dawn xoxo   sorry no photos

Dawn, bless you for taking him in and taking care of him. All of our dogs are rescues. Harry came to us so thin you could see his back bones. He was a handful too and it took a lot to get him to live with our other male without bloodshed. But, we did it and he now has a good home and we have a very special boy. Older dogs are often more appreciative of a good home. I hope Charlie Buckles gets his forever home.

Aww, no pics? Poor fella, I know you gave him lots of loves while he was visiting... That's why I could never be a foster parent for a pet - too hard to say goodbye even when you know it's for the best! You got me all teary eyed! See you soon!
