STACKABLES....THURSDAY'S THRIFT...

Hi darling readers, welcome to Thursday's Thrift!!  I just found these stackable mid century tables at Goodwill for $3.99.  I know, great price, had to try them out.   I really like how sleek they look but not sure if they are staying in front of my couch.  My couch isn't even staying so anything can change at any time in my home right now until I purchase a couch.  I'm  going today to a few more thrifts to see if I can find a decent, used, mid century couch that I am sure will be less than the one at Macy's. 

Here they are unstacked and decorated with vintage McCall's Needlework mags from the 1960's that I also thrifted and a funky little painted bowl that seems to work with the tables.  I thrifted the mags and bowl way back.  Oh, and let me not forget my thrifted, complete, nut set that I love, I almost broke a tooth on one of those nuts last night when I cracked it and accidentally bit down on one of the shells.  not good.

We should all add colorful sweaters to our winter wardrobes...right?  Inspired!!!

WHITE CHRISTMAS...thrifty thursday

3 bottle brush trees and a gorgeous cake plate.  .99cents for 3 trees and $1.99 for plate.  Goodwill.

Is this the perfect tree for my dining room?  I really think so!  $4.99 Goodwill.  Everything is really coming together.

Wreath .99cents Goodwill.  All of these items were found today.  Someone donated their entire collection of white Christmas decorations.  I chose what I thought I could use. 

A globe for $2.99...steal!!

THURSDAY'S THRIFT....paint by number to polka dots

Vintage dress with pocket detail.  This dress was $2.99 at Goodwill.  The length is short and has an A- line cut.  I accidentally deleted the full length photo.  If you remember, I am only  allowing myself to buy vintage pieces right now.  This was worthy of my closet for the price.  I can wear this now with leggings and a cardi over it.

Goodwill score!!!  I saw this at Target but thought it was too expensive.  I got it for $14.99.  I know that it's a bit hefty price wise for GW but I also know it's one of Target's newer items so I snatched it up.  It's heavy and sturdy and bigger that the photo reveals. 

How cute are these little crocheted cup cozies?  I had to have them for .50 cents each.  I found them while rummaging through an antique store back in October when Rob and I took a mini getaway to Pennsylvania.  The tray is from Goodwill/ .99cents. 

This vintage fan was found recently when my friend Laura and I went to a huge co-op barn that was full of antiques.  I know that these fans usually go for a lot more money than what I paid.  The vender happened to be there that night and gave me a 30% discount which brought it down to $22.00.  I was inspired to buy it when I saw this post here.  This Vintage Grove is so full of goodies, I love visiting her blog.

This rather large, vintage, paint by number, art piece and another one like it were found at a huge warehouse not far from my home called Wacker's.  It's a family owned business that has been around for years.  I just started going back to shop there again because they have unique pieces of furniture and I am still looking for a couch.  They are a bit pricey though, so I bought these for $4.95 each.  As soon as I find a couch I will decorate my living room...can't wait to use these items that I've been purchasing.  I do have a vision for these goodies.

Love the vibrant orange in this picture but the deer sealed the deal.  The frame on this one is in need of some wood glue but for the price, it was worth it.  What items have you scored lately? Hi Darlings, I am up early on Tuesday morning to wish you a great day!!!  This is a new blog feature I will be featuring throughout the holiday season showcasing Holiday party outfits, casual and a bit more dressy using items that I already have in my closet.  I want to prove to myself and hopefully inspire others to "take a  peeksie" as Collette from "Statements in Fashion" would say in your own closet.  I have not shopped  the thrift in over a week which you all know is nothing short of a miracle.   So here is a little number I found along with lots of accessories that I already own.   I have a big wedding on New Year's Eve so I am planning to wear something from my closet if at all possible.  I would love for you to join me in posting a holiday outfit just for fun to see what you can find  in your closet.  Go ahead and take a peeksie.  Dawn xoxo 

THE HAND AND THE SEVERED FINGER...

We all know that Martha Stewart along with her staff, come up with the most creative ideas every Halloween  making her the queen of Halloween in my book.   My husband and I have echoed her creepy ideas resulting in these 2 appendages, the sculptured hand and the severed bloody finger with a black bow tied around it to indicated "don't forget" our halloween party.  We used it as an invitation one year and sent a finger in a box to all of our guests.   

Add some moss, orange bulbs, battery operated tea lights and candles for a spooky effect.

Don't mind the dust on the spooky, it adds to the charm...

Thrifted these 2 electric, vintage candles at Goodwill for $5.99 each.  I added orange bulbs which I also thrifted for .99cents/ pack of 5.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL

Hi, hoping you had a great weekend.  Fall is in full swing for the moment here so I decided to break the Labor Day rules and wear this skirt by Calypso.  I found it at  Goodwill for $3.99 this summer.  It's technically still summer right?  It has more material than a circus tent and makes you feel like spinning!!!   I didn't have a dress like Maggie's so I had to put a different spin on it.  This skirt is actually more of an off white and is 100% silk made in India. 

Today at Two Birds, sisters Megan and Nora are hosting Inspiration Monday.  You should get in on this.  It inspires creativity in  all of us.  It gave me a chance to style this skirt for future wear.  My blazer and Coach bag are also from Goodwill  totalling less than $10.00 for both.  My shoes are from Target  having chosen them because I can walk on the grass easily and they are high enough for the skirt to not drag along the ground. Found my thigh high socks at Marshall's, my cuff at Goodwill and my earrings were bought several years ago from a woman I worked with who made jewelry.  So, have a great Monday and stay inspired. 

THURSDAY'S THRIFT....Valentino and Dooney

Hi darlings, feeling a little better today.  This ailment seems to come and go.  I feel like I have more strength today just like I did the day I helped my husband clean the shed.  Very strange feeling but I am thankful that today I am not in as much pain because it is Thursday's thrift where I like to showcase my savings.  I am not interested so much as to what you've spent on an item as much as I am interested in what you have saved on an item.  This quote was inspired by my friend and follower of this blog Jenni (aka cupcake).  She loves to bake and she is good at it.  You can see her here when I featured her on another blog stint called "Star of my blog".  For some reason all of the photos will not show up once you click to see her huge closet but there are enough to get a good look at her wardrobe.   Anyway, today I bring you a Valentino super luxurious vest for Fall.  I paid...(don't hate me and you better sit down for this one)  $1.99 at the Village thrift a while back.  I paired it with the no name vintage scarf that I had to have for the same price.  This is why I love thrifting, I paid the same price for a no name vintage leaf print scarf as I did for a Valentino sweater vest made from as stated on the label...virgin wool...ooooh baby!!



I had to double check for an inside tag for authenticity and here it is....

Can't wait to wear this special item...any suggestions on how to pair it or wear it are welcome darlings...

Next up are my newly thrifted Dooney and Burke boat shoes that I spent $5.99 on at the Goodwill, my local haunt.  They are a perfect fit and I found another pair exactly like them on ebay (used) with a starting bid of $45.00.    I looked on their website and new boat shoes are $145.00.  These are in perfect condition for 2nd hand.

I cleaned them with Lysol and Myers vegetable counter top spray in lavender scent....they only needed a small amount of scrubbing...

Although this photo is not so great, I found these vintage sunglasses for .99cents, case included at the Goodwill.  Someone put the sticker price right on the lens so I had a heck of time trying to get the sticky stuff off.  They remind me of  glasses from the 50's with their retro style frame and they are marked "Mustang".  Cool....

ATHROPOLOGIE HEADBAND AND NEWLY THRIFTED DRESS...

Hello darlings, remember when my computer was out of commission? That's ok if you don't.  While it was down, I went to Anthro. with my gift cards and bought this turban like headband and a pretty blouse that is dry clean only.   I try not to buy things that are labeled like that because I want to wash everything myself.  Anyway, this Anthro. headband was regularly $48.00 dollars which is way too expensive if I don't have a gift card.   The wonderful thing that happened when I went to check out was that  the sales clerk sold it to me for $28.00 after I noticed a very small pull in the material.  It was the last one in stock so she wanted to move it along, I guess. My dress(Mossimo for Target) was found by my great friend and follower of this blog, Jenni (aka cupcake).  I paid less than $10.00 for it when we went thrifting together. I also found a dress for her.   That is the wonderful thing about going with a friend, they find things for you that you might overlook!!   

My necklace is  vintage costume jewelry and weighs about 2 pounds. When not doubled,  it falls below my waist.  I have never worn it but thought that it was complimentary to the dress and a good contrast to the belt.  I paid less than $3.00 for the necklace and .99cents for the j. Crew belt.  The Coach bag that I am carrying was found at Goodwill for less than $5.00.  Not sure if I like it with this ensemble but I included it anyway.   Ok darlings, off to help my husband stain the deck...we are fixing up the house little by little and it is looking pretty good. Since we are doing mostly everything ourselves, we are saving lots of money to put toward our driveway resurfacing this week...yay!!  Photos at some point...have a great Wednesday and be inspired!
